Don't miss the gameplay video!

Train Fever is a railroad-focused business simulation game with role-playing elements. In other words, it's a modern-day Transport Tycoon with procedural content and a sophisticated city simulation.

Train Fever runs on an engine specifically developed for this game. A key point is the fact that there is no grid that game objects have to be aligned to.

The game will be published for the platforms PC, Mac and Linux. We estimate our target group to one million people. With an online sales strategy and a starting price of €25 we target to meet at least 30,000 sales.

Including low-price and budget sales, we expect total revenues of €822,500, of which Gambitious investors get 50% or €411,250. This results in a return on investment of 165%. For more details, please refer to the business plan. Also, there is more information on the project homepage.

Please note that everyone who invests at least €40 gets a copy of the final game for free (in addition to the shares).

game synopsis

The player takes over a transport company in 1850, and in the course of the game he acts as the manager and owner. The game environment is of a European expression and is realistically designed. In the game world villages and towns spread and dynamically evolve according to a unique simulation method.

gameplay

As a transport tycoon the player is mainly busy with building infrastructure such as railways or railway stations, purchasing transportation vehicles such as locomotives or train cars and defining the traffic routes. The player is also in charge of maintaining vehicles and managing railroad traffic, for example by building railway signals.

Main game modes

Single player, endless game.

USP's of this project compared to similar games

Train Fever runs on an engine specifically developed for this game. The engine has a great innovative scope and is specialized in procedural content and urban simulation. A key point is the fact that there is no grid that game objects have to be aligned to, allowing for a great degree of freedom. For artists the engine offers new possibilities for design, as they can not only create individual buildings but also define the style of entire cities.

Market

target audience

Train Fever predominantly targets and speaks to the tycoon game and business simulation players. With the unique mixture of simulation and role-playing, we hope to reach market opportunities beyond the mentioned segment. Comparable games to Train Fever such as "Transport Tycoon", "Railroad Tycoon" (RT2: 1,500,000 sales) or "Industrie Gigant" (800,000 sales) have been very successful and each left behind a large fan base (transport simulation community), which is also considered the main target group for Train Fever. We estimate this transport simulation community to about one million people.

Marketing And Sales

Positioning in the market

Train Fever will be published for the platforms PC, Mac and Linux, which (indisputably) account for the major part of the sales in this genre. We target to meet at least 3% of the one-million transport simulation community, i.e. 30,000 sales. This number represents the sales in the mid-price segment (market introduction price: €25). Details about sales in the low-price and budget segment are listed below ("Pricing strategy"). The game will be sold online on Steam and similar platforms. In order to reach an optimal level of PR and web-appearance, we plan to team up with a marketing partner. In the financing plan, for this purpose 15% of the sales revenue is reserved. We didn’t make the choice yet, but there is a range of promising candidates, and we aim the cooperation to start as soon as possible. We want to keep creative independence; however, we will accept minor changes in the game design coming from the marketing side. After the release of Train Fever, we plan to start the development of five DLCs. These will add new vehicles, buildings and characters. The DLCs will be released three, five, six, seven and eight months after the release of Train Fever. Also, there will be an expansion pack, which turns Train Fever from single to multi player. This expansion pack is planned to be released 14 months after the initial release.
